Sunday was one of those breathtakingly beautiful Spring Days.
We drove out to The StoneCat Cafe on Seneca Lake. A little pre-celebration in anticipation of today - Greg's last day of work for awhile...

Blaise was part of a NY State wide competition called All Skills last week in Syracuse NY. The buildings at the fairground with filled with a variety of kids competing against each other in engine fixing, medical care and testing, cosmetology and of course culinary and baking just to mention a few.
Blaise competed in the culinary competition. An interesting experience all around.

CHEMOTOXIC - opening Friday May 3 2013 - Visual Studies Workshop - Rochester, NY

  • VISUAL STUDIES WORKSHOP INC's Photo
EVENT DATE: MAY 03, 2013
DAYS TO GO: 3
THE STORY:
ChemoToxic, I Am That and Other Stories – representing photographer Willie Osterman’s documentation of his wife Michele’s chemotherapy and his fears that the disease might be lurking within his own body – will be presented at the Visual Studies Workshop beginning with an opening reception and fundraiser on May 3, 2013 from 6-9pm. The wet plate collodian process used by Osterman, an antiquated photographic technique developed in the 1850s, resulted in one-of-a-kind images printed on glass plates known as ambrotypes. Donate directly or become a team member and shave your head at the May 3 event as a way for others to pledge money in support of cancer patients. Those who shave their heads will be photographed by Osterman and become part of his project. All proceeds will benefit patients at Pluta Cancer Center, Rochester, NY.

30 Weeks of Chemo

April 1 marked the end of 30 weeks of chemo for Greg. Additionally, he has done Lupron (for 3 years) and Zometa. He will continue to with the Zometa and the Lupron for life.
Greg has proven to be stronger than I could ever have imagined. His growth and control over his psyche, spirituality and physical strength have been beyond impressive.
I convinced him a year or more ago to start a blog to document his process and life. I have photographed all to the place where he often tells me he is "so sick of being documented", "...hate being a specimen...". I persist...

April 6 2013 In Memorium

Each year I post an album on Facebook as a tribute / remembrance.
This is the 2013 version. The Prince Street years...

During one of Jeannie's many hospital stays, her 3 daughters made this wonderful drawing for her. It hung next to bed until she passed. After her death, I was able to complete one shrine piece, a mock up and then a final. Until this year, I have not been able to complete the pieces honoring she and our dad.
This is the beginning of the body of work. The final piece includes a sewn on image of Jean as a teen ager and 2 polaroids of her girls. One of her large medals that she constantly wore hung across the image.
The final piece will be printed on silk and paper and encapsulated in wax.

Yesterday, April 6, 2013 marked the 34th anniversary of my father's death.
